The Mechantis is based on the structure of a Praying Mantis. It is unique in this series as it’s the only insect I’ve sculpted without ever seeing one in person.
When creating sculptural representations of the natural world, I specifically choose to keep it local. Rare and exotic species are quite breathtaking, but our attention on them can cause us to overlook the exquisite beauty and marvel of the seemingly “ordinary”… right where we’re at.
- an original sculpture made of wire, clay, wooden beads and watch parts
- a free standing sculpture, that can be easily separated at the “waist” to fit into it’s dapper wooden box-habitat
- His dimension are 2 1/2″ wide, 6″ front to back, 5 1/4″ tall. He is extremely fragile and should be handled sparingly, very gently, and is most definitely not a toy.
Comes complete with…
Handpainted “Solafar” Cigar box: for safe transport and classy display
Mossy bedding (artificial): for impact dampening and to mimic the Mechantis’ unnatural habitat
This is a one of a kind work of art, never to be exactly reproduced.
