Imagine my surprise when I went to the Term Coiner’s office and discovered “March madness” was already taken. Dang it! Apparently “March madness” refers to a very basketbally time of the year. I didn’t know they even played basketball anymore, but if you’re a Sporty Spice then you’ll want to check out Alan the writer’s sports blog. You know Alan the Writer; he’s contributed quite a few ideas here but believe me, his area of expertise is far beyond mere gator-rats and space-bots. From what I hear, this year’s March’s madness has been pretty darn mad! Underdogs winning and bounty hunters hunting… that’s what I heard, but Alan’s got the details.
As the sports world continues its search for an ultimate winner and the political world continues…well… imagine the Special Olympics except not inspirational, I’ve continued through my own Mentally Challenging March! By far, the biggest challenge of March is ALL the birthdays! I know so many people who’s birthdays are in March that as soon as I realize I’ve forgotten one, I’ve actually forgotten four. By the time I get those 4 belated birthday cards out, I’ve missed all the rest (if only they’d forget my birthday too, I’d feel a little better about it)! Then, March’s mentally challenged curve-ball: I didn’t get a job that I was really REALLY hoping for, but on the upside I did get to spend the time with my vacationing sister and brothers-in-law. First thing on the South Florida vacationers agenda: A boat ride out into the Atlantic to throw-up for a few hours (they chose to fish instead).
My wife caught the black fin tuna by the mouth and she caught the shark by the tail! In fact, she was the only one who caught anything which is CRAZY since
we they were fishing practically shoulder to shoulder. It goes to show you when it comes to fishing, some people got it and some don’t… while other just barf.
During all the shark talk, we talked ourselves right out of a planned snorkeling adventure, so instead… we rested (I hoped we would get some vacation time during all this vacation time). While her brothers were in town we’d take daily trips to the beach to crisp up our skin (otherwise Floridians rarely ever go).
We also went to the aquarium – not the place where the whale’s trainers were killed.
The vacation finished off with an airboat ride trough the everglades for those old enough to ride. The rest of us had to go by foot.
There’s a lot to do here in Florida and we barely scratched the surface. We’ve also barely scratched the surface of my Mentally Challenged March! There are projects… projects, and art projects, and new projects on the horizon: sculpting, building, decorating, landscaping, lots and lots of landscaping! The fact is, I had to get back to the blogging swing-of-things at some point so here I am, sun-burnt and missing our company now headed back to Arkansas. All joking aside, it really was good time and I look forward to Hank and Bruce’s next visit (when we’ll DEFINITELY snorkel with the sharks)! I also look forward to sharing the rest of March’s projects with you.
Update: the madness continued…
