It’s feels like it’s been FOREVER since my last post! I’ve missed you. I’m going to continue doing 2 posts a week only because it’s giving me time to get some projects started and others… ALMOST finished, but especially time to make some much needed modifications to the website. I plan on reworking the portfolio section and adding a “shop” section featuring premade items. When that’s all done though I’ll return to doing more posts; there’s only so much time I can spend in front of this machine!
As far as Hurricane Irene goes, we kept between the feeder bands and the weather stayed fairly pleasant with a cool breeze. I was able to finish almost all of the canvases that my buddy, Drew the artist, needs for his job with the big boat decorator. I have 5 more to make, and I’ve begun referring to these canvases as my handyman special canvases. It’s because they’re made from furring strips (1″x2″ lumber), denim, and indoor/outdoor primer. Compared to “real” gessoed canvases on stretcher bars, my handyman special canvases are half the price and seem more durable to boot. Other than that I still have yet to discover any discernible difference between the two. If you’re in the market for some cost effective stretched canvases, let me know, I can get you a price quote for what you need.
I got my little Astronaut fella totally baked, dude. Seriously though, I baked him for the first time and have continued on with a few more details, namely a belt. I also wanted to add a jetpack but as I look at the clock I wonder if over 40 hours is a bit too long to spend on him. In fact, (rereading that sentence) it is too long. So, once I finish the belt I’ll bake him once more and start painting before Thursday. ;)
I added some glowing bits to him and tried my best to take some pictures to show you.
Yea…so the only way I could get a photo of the glow was to edit the brightness which made it kinda grainy… but effective.
On my weekend sabbatical, my wife and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary. Due to an unexpected vehicle repair our planned Key West vacation turned into…
… a chocolate frosted Krispy Kreme doughnut sliced open and slathered with peanut butter.
Happy aniversary Monkey. You know as well as I do I never would have shared that doughnut with anyone else.
