A little less conversation

Sorta been kinda busy lately. Besides finishing up a couple art projects, there have been some... challenges to face... hurdles if you will, but $*%&@#*  &^% just might sum it up best. On the up side, they're not due to my wife... directly. The kid got 1 inch taller which somehow magnifies his reach by nearly 2 feet, so an emergency round of baby proofing had to go into effect. Then our dog got REALLY sick which required an emergency vet visit and...ugh... stool sample. Last but certainly not least (and certainly not last), my cell phone telephone battery doesn't hold a charge anymore,  so I have to keep it plugged into the charger, so lame! Knock on wood happy ending, but I think things have settled for the time being. All of my art supplies and prized choke hazards are now above elbow height, the dog's on medication and my cell...

I'm so excited and I just cant hide it! .. What's that you say? ... Oh. No, I'm not going to lose control. What would make you think that? I'll be okay, but seriously, it has been an exciting day! Let me start at the beginning... Last night I put together an Etsy store. Nothing fancy, just to get my thing and stuff "out there". I've experience eBay and figured Etsy to be another one of those. I really don't know... but I was nearing my wits end with all the names and passwords and account information to maintain. After all, all I wanted was to make a little website... maybe a blog. Sure, make a website, definately keep a blog, did I mention a Facebook page, Twitter, don't forget Linkedin, ArtFire and eBay, there's Pinterest, Tumbler, GooglePlus, Etsy and that's just off the top of my head. Plus, I can't forget...

Before I get into today's post (oops, too late), I heard late last night - via iPhone - that Steve Jobs passed away. Although I didn't know Mr. Jobs, he came across as being a real stand-up fella. His passion for technology and innovation was infectious as he introduced us to all the things we never knew we wanted. I certainly appreciate the impact he made in my life and wish the best for his family during this difficult time. Another person who's made an important impact on my life is my close friend, Kristin. I first got to know her as a coworker at a less than ideal art gallery. She was one of the few people there who helped maintain sanity while the gallery slowly slid downhill into the abyss of a chapter 7 bankruptcy. We also discovered that we have the same birthday! It's humbling to look for a gift for someone else for your...

Art Spaces & the people in them 1

blueprint

Back when my little boy started crawling I had to move my art space. If you're familiar with the processes of these little people, then you know that everything they find will be subject to a taste test NO MATTER WHAT they find. Instead of almost half of our dinning room, I squeezed my art space into a little corner.  So now, I and all the toxic art supplies can be barricaded away from little hand and mouths... at least, until the NEXT round of baby proofing begins (but there's nowhere left for me to go)! All the rearranging got me wondering how other artists organize their space. One's space is an important part of the creative process; even those into digital graphics need a place for their butts and computers. I sent out e-mails to artist and crafty people I personally know, asking what elements of their space help their "process" or inspires their...
